t bay cafe is a small but busy 50 seat cafe in Titahi Bay, Porirua. We are open 6 days a week from Tuesday to Sunday, and are especially busy at weekends.
Chefs are rostered on shifts over opening days from 7am to 3pm, generally with 2 chefs on per day and a kitchen hand and / or dishwasher shift supporting as required.
We specialise in simple but high quality breakfast and lunches, with some evening and function cooking and catering. See our menu on on our website for our full current menu.
We are currently on the hunt for a new Sous Chef to join our team. The person we are looking for will have ;
- At least 2 to 3 years experience as a Sous Chef or similar role, able to assume all head chef duties when head chef not on shift.
- Experience in leading and mentoring / training kitchen staff in prescribed cooking methodologies and systems.
- Experience and competence in NZ commercial food safety systems.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
In addition to the above, we are also looking for someone creative with a passion for cooking, as contributing to new menu items and developing specials will be part of the role. This is a full time position, 40 hours per week. You must be available to work at least one day each weekend.
